  1. brak:
Onions make him gassy. Still eats 'em though.

Pseudo-Polynesian cat-man-villain-thing from Space Ghost, once was a happy space pirate, now "dumb as a doornail". Like you didn't know this already. Come on, people. Come on. People? Come on.

  2. david fincher:
Overrated, but only by his fans. For example, an IMDB post titled "Your Top 3 of Best Fincher Films?" was met with a reply that listed all five films he's directed so far, all in caps, with "ALL OF FINCHER'S MOVIES ARE AWESOME" for a chaser.

Otherwise, pretty solid director, nice style and sense of humor, and I think he actually convinced Brad Pitt to drink his own urine at some point. Smart enough to understand that "Fight Club" is not about a bunch of guys hitting each other. Would be a top choice for certain Will Self adaptations.

  3. fireworx:
Extremely cool effects processor by T.C. Electronic. Worth it for the "Japanese Toys" preset alone, not to mention the one that makes your drums sound all "Prince-y".

  4. house:
As in music, you dolts. Many flavors, but mostly tech, tribal, deep-dish-y yoshiesque stuff or downtempo / deep / jazzy numbers. Yes I buy records. No I am not a "DJ".

  5. kretch:
See also: "save the Texas Prairie Chicken" or "and the sinking of the Lusitania was mine".

  6. monkey hugs:
An example of [info]maddening turning something potentially horrifying into something cute and YAY without even thinking... you had to be there, and you weren't, so DON'T TELL ME MY BUSINESS.

  7. red wine:
I drink it. White too. No, I haven't seen "Sideways", but I'm sure YOU have.

  8. tacos:
Proof there is a god. The invisible ones can be very frustrating though. Tacos, that is, not gods. They're invisible most of the time. Until they want to scare the everliving fuck out of you, that is.

  9. vinyl:
As in records. I buy them. I play them. Sometimes over the Internet, sometimes for friends at parties, and sometimes juuuuuuuust for Holly. Once again, however, I am not a "DJ", nor do I have sideburns, drive a Volkswagon Jetta, or wear a baseball cap (backwards or otherwise).

  10. :
This is the international symbol for "gee, half of these interests are kinda lame choices for a meme like this, I really wish it would pick other ones because it'd probably far more interesting".

Also listed as the track length for the last track on vinyl versions of Sonic Youth's "EVOL" album. The track "Expressway to Yr Skull" had no closing groove, causing the hypnotic droning sounds at the end of the track to literally play forever (or until your needle died from exhaustion).

Coincidentally (or not), the symbol is also used to represent Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo on side one of their "Daydream Nation" double album (vinyl only) as well as the CD.

  1. big juicy brains:
I like em Fat... I like em Proud...
  2. classic horror:
"Classic" means "Not Scream". The Haunting. Pre-Color Vincent Price Films. Night of the Living Dead. The Changeling even... though that's getting a little young. This also includes classic Giallo from Fulci, Argento, and others.
  3. digital photography:
As opposed to non-digital. What is that? Analog? Analog photography? I like all kinds of photography except for those fucking sepia/black and white settings on digital cameras that ALWAYS look like shit.
  4. forensic science:
That pretty much says it. I started off being really into abnormal psychology which lead into serial killers and then forensic science.Figuring shit out about mis-deeds through something as simple as the pile of a carpet and the way it's been pushed aside is pretty fucking cool.
  5. illicit substances:
Drugs pretty much. I like drugs, mostly illegal or illegally obtained ones. Yep.
  6. mockery:
Well I think the meaning here is pretty evident, Billy.
  7. outsider art:
If it's something in your Art Appreciation book, it's probably not outsider art. Of course the definition keeps getting more and more broad as the mainstream art establishment realizes there's a market for it (kind of like hip hop went from an underground movement to eventually becoming a bullshit infested billion dollar industry).
  8. shiraz:
I likes me some Shiraz, specifially from New Zealand. Distinctive red wine, wonderful, beat you up kind of wine. More mineral = more better.
  9. tenchi:
Tenchi is a pretty standard anime story that we have a soft spot for. One of our kitties is named Ryoko (or Ryouko to be a little more accurate) after Ryoko the Space Pirate in Tenchi
  10. volume:
    Decibels and Mass.

Though "sesquipedalism" is all about us

And because it's your (and [info]punkalicia's) goal in life to be like me.

Re: Though "sesquipedalism" is all about us

I think that my desire to be like you is so pervasive that it really don't need to be drawn out any further.

Actually, I haven't seen Sideways.

Oh, I didn't mean you. I mostly meant the idiot who wanders into the legitimate wine shop by accident, starts asking about "pee not no are", mentions the movie, and hips us all to the fact that "they got some pretty good wines at the Safeway actually". That guy.

Honestly, I like the concept and the cast, and the clips I've seen have been entertaining, but the people who go on about the movie are mostly what's kept me from seeing it so far. Kinda like Tori Amos fans and their Delerium icons, oh I'm a faerie but also a cutter haha etc. vomit.

Yeah. It's definitely better in a lot of cases to not hear any hype before seeing a movie (as your other half will attest, I'm sure). This, for instance, was how I got to see the second matrix movie very late in the game and realize it's actually not a bad comedy. Lousy Sci-Fi, but a decent comedy.

I ripped the DVD, separated the video and audio tracks, and remastered it with music from the "Little Rascals" and "Our Gang" shorts. I truly believe I have realized the film the way it was always meant to be. Especially the part where Neo says "Aw, gee! I don't wanna go to school today!" and then Agent Smith goes "Sayyyyyyy... what are you kids up to?" and all that. Fuckin' rules, man.
